UNACOH as part of capacity for young people has maintained its Internship programme for undergraduates and postgraduates for both local and international students.
During the month of February and March 2016, UNACOH hosted 2 internship students from Denmark who had been recommended by Dialogos to come and do their internship from Uganda. This collaboration was such a good opportunity for these students to observe and draw lessons from the implementation of projects in UNACOH.
One of the students, Sergio Hansen was a Masters student for Global Health and Nutrition and his main interest was on exploring the organizational collaboration and relationship with Dialogos in regard to implementation of PHE project.
Whereas the other student Bastian Pedersen was a medical student and his main interest was to carry out a study assessing the prevalence of pesticide poisoning due to suicide attempts. Both students were attached to the PHE project and their expectations were met beyond doubt.
They were involved in refresher training of health care workers at health centers, training and on spot monitoring of farmers in both Wakiso and Pallisa districts.
We believe beyond reasonable doubt that the experience they had during both field work and at office in Uganda gave them a better understanding of how projects are run and implemented in Uganda and they will come back to Uganda not on internship that time but to enhance the work force of UNACOH with knowledge and skills and may be man power in more projects.
